Our Story
We make children’s clothing from traditional, hand made batik. Each piece is carefully considered and ethically made in Sydney, Australia, to be long lasting and handed down.
Our batik textiles are sourced from family run businesses in Java, Indonesia, where all fabrics are made by artisans who use traditional techniques. Each individual batik piece is made from 100% cotton, which is sourced directly from our makers.
We do not mass produce, instead we mindfully create small runs of each garment to ensure there are not large amounts of excess items made. All of the cutting and sewing is done in Sydney, Australia, in spacious work rooms, filled with light.
Cantik Anak is a mother and daughter owned and run business. One of us having a background in textiles and fashion design, the other, an early childhood teacher. Cantik Anak is born from a love of textiles and children, woven into one.
We support the Slow Fashion Movement and aim to create our pieces with minimal impact on our planet and our people. As a small business we want to unify sustainability and ethics.
Love,
Anne & Grace,
Cantik Anak
